Contrary the some engines like Mike and Harrison, Jeff only considers Burlington Northern the best railroad just to feel important. He takes to much pride in his position. To make himself feel important, he boasts about "Burlington Northern moving America towards tomorrow". He thinks he can assume authority and hates it when engines except himself are put in charge.
A few good characteristics he offers is that he puts his life behind someone else's when danger is present and sometimes admits to his mistakes, albeit to gain sympathy.
Jeff's pride in Burlington Northern can lead to accidents. An example is how he says BN engines should ignore speed limits, under the excuse that speed limits are for "common" railroads.
